Mrs. Gail Clark – First Grade

Mrs. Clark has been teaching for over 30 years and has been at BCA for the past nine. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Baptist Bible College, and a Masters in Education from the Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania. She is a certified Foundations and Frameworks Reading Program, and Architecture of Learning trainer.

Mrs. Clark is a regular presenter at the ACSI Early Educator’s Conference in various areas including literacy, phonetic awareness, and math programs. Mrs. Clark most enjoys teaching alongside not only great teachers but wonderful friends. “We can laugh together, cry together and most importantly PRAY together. While I am constantly learning from my students, I think the greatest thing they continue to teach me every day is to have childlike faith.”    Mrs. Clark also enjoys photography, scrapbooking, and camping.

Mrs. Tiffany Buck – Second Grade

A graduate of the University of Valley Forge, Mrs. Buck earned a bachelor of science in Elementary Education, and is state certified to teach preschool – 5th grades. Prior to BCA, Mrs. Buck taught for two years at Friendship Christian School in Cumming, as a lead teacher at Chittenango Child Care Center, Inc. where she also taught the after school program for kindergarten – 2nd grade. Mrs. Buck and her husband, Skyler, are members of Eastgate Church where she volunteers in the children’s and youth ministries. When she isn’t teaching, Mrs. Buck enjoys arts and crafts, especially making greeting cards and signs.

Miss Morgan Michell – Third Grade

Miss Michell graduated from Samford University with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. Although this is her first year teaching at BCA, she was a student here from 1st to 8th grade and did some of her student teaching here during college. Her favorite part about being back is getting to help the students have the same great experience and feel the same love of Jesus that she felt when she was here. She is a member of Creekside United Methodist Church and is involved in their youth ministry. When she isn’t there, she serving the community with Flood Student Missions.

Mrs. Lisa Broyles – Third Grade

Mrs. Broyles earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Grace College and is certified by the state of Georgia and ACSI. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Broyles says what she has enjoyed most about her ten years at BCA is the family atmosphere and the genuine care and concern shown for others. “I love that we put Christ first in what we do.”

What has Mrs. Broyles learned from her students at BCA? “My students help me remember that God has made all of us unique and special. We are all loved for exactly who we are.”

Mrs. Pam Gilchrist – Fourth Grade

With more than 10 years of experience, Mrs. Pam Gilchrist joined BCA two years ago as our  fourth grade teacher after relocating to the metro Atlanta area a year prior.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Arts in Education from National-Louis University in Chicago. She is also Georgia State certified, and is a Georgia Odyssey of the Mind Coach. Having taught grades first through fifth in Chicago and Prescott, Arizona, Mrs. Gilchrist is looking forward to openly worshiping and praying to God with her students at BCA.

Mrs. Judy Vega – Fifth Grade

Mrs. Vega has been teaching elementary school since 1996. She taught in grades 2nd – 8th at Collins Hill Christian School in Lawrenceville, GA, and in second grade at Flamingo Road Christian Academy in Cooper City, FL. Most recently, Mrs. Vega served as the Children’s Ministry Director at Meadow Baptist Church in Lawrenceville. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Florida Atlantic University, graduating with honors. Married 32 years, Mrs. Vega and her husband, Glenn, have three children (Kate, 29; Stephanie, 28; and Matthew, 14; and two grandsons, David, 4; and Harrison, arriving this fall). Mrs. Vega and her husband attend 12 Stone Church. When she’s not in the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family (which includes a Golden Retriever named Bella), reading, cooking, and crocheting.

Mr. Dennis Clark – Lower School P.E.

Coach Clark first joined BCA ten years ago as the instructor for the BCA chapter of the Jumping for Jesus International Club, a ministry he founded to increase children’s level of physical fitness while teaching them God’s Word. This is fourth year as BCA’s lower school P.E. teacher.

With over 20 years of elementary physical education experience, Coach Clark also served as a college athletic director for four years at Christ for the Nations. He earned a B.A. in Physical Education from Lenoir Rhyne University and a M.A. in Biblical Education from Evangelical Theological Seminary. The author of Exciting Elementary Physical Education Games and Guidelines, Coach Clark served as an instructor at the ACSI Physical Education Conference in Dallas, Texas.

Coach Clark loves working at a Christian school, and being part of a team that strives to make BCA a school of excellence. “Since I’ve been at BCA, I’ve learned that every student has great potential spiritually, academically, and physically. It’s an honor and a great responsibility to work with children.” In his free time, Coach Clark enjoys bike riding, camping, nature walks and reading scripture. “God has helped me read through the Bible for 33 years in a row.”

Mrs. Brandee Thurman – Visual Art

A native Texan, Mrs. Brandee Thurman has a passion for education and a love for the arts. She continues to further her art education through the National Art of Education Association and the Art of Education. She is the mother of three and the proud (and very young) grandmother of two. Prior to joining the Bridgeway staff, she spent eight years teaching at a local art studio.

When she’s not in the classroom or holding a paintbrush, Mrs. Thurman enjoys snow skiing, gardening, hiking, and reading. She also loves teaching Awana and Sunday school. What she enjoys most about teaching at BCA is the family atmosphere. “It is wonderful to be able to share the love of the Lord with kids and to see their spiritual growth.”

Mr. Iain Velez – Second – Eighth Grade Spanish

Mr. Velez has been teaching Spanish at Bridgeway for more than 10 years. He earned a B.S. in Spanish and Business Administration from Houghton College in Houghton, NY, and is certified by the State of Georgia and ACSI. What he most enjoys about BCA is being able to use his gifts and sharing his faith freely, while making an impact for the Kingdom of God. “My students have taught me to be a better teacher, role model, and Christian example.”

Growing up in Bolivia, Mr. Velez had many different pets and animals, but now he only has one funny looking dog called Bossa. Mr. Velez played for the U17 Bolivian National soccer team and toured with a Christian rock band during college. Today, he’s just as happy as the worship leader for Bridgeway Church, and coaching both the girls and boys BCA soccer teams.

Mrs. Britni Thiesen – Pre-3 – First Grade Spanish

Mrs. Thiesen has a Bachelors degree in TXMD from Middle Tennessee State University with a minor in Spanish and Marketing. She has been teaching preschool Spanish at the North Point Community Church Weekday program for the past three years. Outside of the classroom she owns her own Interior Decorating business and enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Seth have been married for ten years and have two children, Henry age 7 and Genevie age 5, both are students at BCA! She is excited to teach the foundations of the Spanish language to our PreK-1st students as well as open their hearts and minds to Christ’s love for them and for people of all cultures and ethnicities!

Mrs. Demetra Stephens – Technology

Mrs. Stephens earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Lamar University and a Masters of Art in Mathematics from Villanova University. She worked as a Software Test Engineer for 11 years with Lockheed Martin before relocating to Atlanta with her husband. Mrs. Stephens continued her corporate career for two additional years and then decided start a family. Mrs. Stephens has three children that attended BCA for a total of nine years. She began substitute teaching at Bridgeway in 2009 and transitioned into a teaching assistant role in 2013. Mrs. Stephens loves spending time with her family.

Mrs. Cathy Walker – Arrowsmith

Mrs. Walker is beginning her 15 year teaching and her 13th year here at BCA. After taking a 2 year break to work with Special Needs students in Forsyth County, she was excited to come back to BCA in the role as a certified  Arrowsmith Cognitive Training Teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing/Finance from the University of Oklahoma. She was a Technical Recruiter for Lucent Technologies and Cisco for 9 years before joining the BCA family. Being part of BCA has been rewarding both spiritually and for her relationship and friendships with students and their families. She enjoys gardening, decorating and watching lacrosse games at Lambert cheering on her favorite #25.
