Georgia GOAL Scholarships.

Apply Your State of Georgia Taxes to Private School Education

A change in Georgia tax law provides an opportunity to help children attend Bridgeway Christian Academy who would never be able to without financial assistance. The new law (HB 1133) provides for the creation of student scholarship organizations (SSOs) that use Georgia income tax credit-eligible contributions to provide public school or kindergarten-entry students with the opportunity to attend private schools.

You can redirect a portion of your Georgia income tax payments to provide financial aid assistance to incoming BCA students as outlined below.

  • Married couples filing jointly can make a contribution and receive a tax credit up to $2,500.
  • An individual taxpayer filing a married filing separate return, the credit is limited to the amount contributed, or $1,250, whichever is less.
  • Individuals can receive a tax credit of $1,000.
  • Money that you contribute to GOAL is money you would have paid in Georgia taxes regardless.
  • Your contribution to GOAL increases our ability to provide financial aid to incoming students, freeing our budgeted amount for returning students.

Timing / Deadline

To participate in this program and qualify for a 2017 tax credit, the paperwork and your check must be provided to BCA by December 31, 2016. However, the sooner you contribute, the more students will benefit from scholarships for the coming academic year. Thank you for helping deserving children attend Bridgeway!

To make a contribution, follow these directions:

Step 1. Redirect your tax dollars to GOAL

Simply click on the following link and provide the information requested GOAL Paperless Process.

Step 2. Claim the credit

When you file your income tax returns in 2016, you will receive a credit against your Georgia income taxes for the amount of your contribution and a charitable deduction on your federal income taxes. You may still file your returns electronically if you elect to take this credit.

  • GOAL will send you a Form IT-QEE-SSO1 contribution acknowledgement form to be filed with your taxes
  • GOAL will send taxpayer filing guidance early next year and/or will post taxpayer filing guidance on its website
