School News

Happy May!! The countdown is officially on people.  The end of school will be here before we know it so hang in their mom and dad.  The last day of school may be quickly approaching but we are not slowing down and had another busy week at BCA.  Huge thanks to our PTF for putting together a wonderful end of the year celebration.  Many families came to say farewell to the 2016.17 school year at the Final Fiesta last Sunday evening.  It was a great time of fellowship.  Thanks to our students, families and PTF for loving the BCA faculty and staff so well this week for Teacher Appreciation Week.

Foundation Fund Update – as we approach the end of another wonderful school year at BCA, we are grateful for the blessings God has poured out on us this year. We are especially thankful for those who have contributed to the BCA foundation, which allows us to fund enhancements to our campus that aren’t covered by tuition. We are currently at 69% of our goal of 100% participation in the Foundation Fund this year which has allowed us to achieve the following:

  • Technology improvements including laptops for teachers
  • Teacher training including personality inventories to improve staff synergy
  • Branding of BCA to raise our profile in the community including new campus signage
  • Hardscape improvements to the building entrance
  • Contribution to the improvement and expansion of the playground and sports field
  • Improvements to campus security

We hope you all got a chance to see the playground and sports field improvements Sunday night at the Final Fiesta. We are currently four months ahead of schedule and at about 70% completion of this project. Work will continue over the summer to finish before the start of school in August. If you have not contributed to the Foundation Fund and would like to be a part of these exciting improvements you may do so by clicking Here. No gift is too small.

On Tuesday our 8th graders left on their annual trip to D.C.   They hit the ground running with visits to the FDR Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, Mount Vernon, the Capitol Building, World War Two Memorial and more. They took time on Wednesday morning to pray over the Supreme Court.  Our 6th and 7th graders left on Wednesday to go to Rock Eagle for an overnight trip where they did lake assessments, participated in a raptor study and did some team building activities.  Needless to say, the third floor was pretty quiet this week.

We had our last “Dress for $2” of the year on Wednesday with the theme of “may the 4th be with you” (a day early of course). Darth Vader, storm troopers, Princess Leia and the new Star Wars character, Rey, were some of the main represented in costume and shirts.  The force was definitely strong on this day.

On Thursday, our 5th grade drama team, under the direction of Mrs. Kilbride, led the lower school in a wonderful chapel about humility. They used skits, songs and scripture to display what humility looks like.  Classes were then dismissed back to their classrooms where they observed National Day of Prayer praying for our government, military, schools, country, and more.
