School News

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya (or afternoon rather)!  Today students were seeing green. Maybe that is because almost the entire student body was decked out in some sort of green to avoid being pinched. One thing for sure, we are blessed to have such amazing students at BCA.

It is always a pleasure when our students lead chapel and this week were were doubly blessed.  Our 8th grade girls led on Monday afternoon. They shared with us about LOVE.  We are called to love one another  We are commanded in John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” We are to love God and the girls shared with us how we do so is by truly knowing Him.  To know Him by developing a relationship with Him by spending time with Him in prayer and in His Word.  Thank you ladies for this wonderful reminder.  On Thursday morning, Mrs. Buck’s second grade class led our lower school chapel.  They continued on with the monthly chapel theme of forgiveness.  They acted out a skit for us about the parable of the unforgiving servant from Matthew 18.  They ended by reminding us of what God’s Word says in Matthew 6:15 “but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” and in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  Amazing job Mrs. Buck’s class.

Do you like pi? On Tuesday, our Middle School students along with many around the world recognized the annual celebration of National Pi Day. They watched videos entitled “Sir Cumference and The Dragon of Pi”, and made bracelets where the colors represented a significant digit of pi.  Students also did a little pi artwork and the day would not be complete without a little pie to fill their bellies.

Flashback to last Friday. It was a pretty busy day in the life of BCA and several things missed the wrap-up and we want to make sure they get mentioned.  Congrats to all of our students who went on to compete in the ACSI Arts Festival. Special shoutout to 4th grader Caitlin Fields for winning Best in Show.  Friday after school, some of our students participated in the ACSI Chess Tournament.  We are so proud of how well they represented BCA.  Then lastly, seven of our students traveled to Ivy Hall Retirement Center to perform for their residents.  Our Friday Finale Jumping for Jesus and Puppet Club members combined their talents for this program where they sang, quoted scriptures, did a puppet show and of course, jumped some rope. At the end our students shared a gospel track and a big hug before saying their goodbyes.

Athletic News

The crazy cold temps and rain were not our friend when it came to playing sports. Our tennis match had to be rescheduled. On Wednesday, the sun came out just enough to get the temperature up to 36 degrees so that our boys could play soccer. They braved the frigid wind and cold to take on Notre Dame Academy.  Their hard work paid off and took away a 2-1 win with scores from Logan Huskey and Matt Rodgers.  Way to go boys!  On Thursday, our track team had a great showing at the Perimeter meet. 8th grader Lion, took 3rd in shot put followed by Linghao in 5th. Great job guys.
