School News

First and foremost, congrats to our 8th grade boys’ basketball team for winning the NAML championship last Thursday in a great game against Dominion. Way to go boys!

On Friday, many of our lower school classes celebrated our 100th day of school. Can you believe it? Before we know it, our 8th graders will be graduating, our 5th graders will be making their way to Middle School and our Pre4s will be in Kindergarten.  Ok, enough tears for now. There is plenty to do between now and then!

Re-enrollment for 2018.2019
Early re-enrollment for the 2018.2019 school year is underway.  Take advantage of the discounted re-enrollment rate before the deadline of Friday, February 16th.  Re-enrollment packets were sent out to your primary email account.  The discounted re-enrollment fee is $250 per child.  After the 16th the price will increase to its standard amount of $500 (K-8th)/$300 (Preschool).

Fifth Grade Step Up
Today our 5th graders are given the opportunity to check out Middle School.  Tomorrow, 5th grade parents are invited to meet with our middle school leadership team and BCA administration.  During this time parents will learn about what can be expected as their student makes the transition to middle school next year.  Two times are available to choose from – 8:10 am and 3:00 pm.

During the month of February, our teachers intentionally arrange their curriculum to focus on Black History Month. Each class has grade level appropriate content to be presented.  The content was selected to be very intentional about meeting and exceeding the state standards we follow.  This morning during staff worship time, Mr. Millis shared with us about where we fit into the “stone of hope” legacy. The Stone of Hope is the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial located in Washington, DC. Like God, MLK’s desire was unity.  Because of God’s love for us, we are changed forever.  In Colossians 5 the Bible say to “put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,  bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.  And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.  And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”  Let’s be the change (and teach the change), we want to see in the world.

Eighth Grade Parents
Just a reminder of a few things coming up that you are invited to attend.  Tomorrow morning at 8:15am, Denise Eccleston will be here to discuss the transition to high school, course selection, hope scholarships, etc.  Next Wednesday, February 14th, a Providence Johns Creek high school representative will be here at 2:30 pm to speak to any interested parents.   The following week, Providence Christian Academy has invited our 8th grade families to come and tour their Johns Creek location on Thursday, February 22nd from 9:00 – 11:00 am. If you are interested, please RSVP to Kim Miller, Director of Admissions, at kim.miller@providencechristianacademy.org
